David Perry also turns his hand (eye?) to still images, a little while ago photographing for a book on Bert Flugelman’s sculptures (see On Further Reflection). He also sets himself various personal projects.

“I became aware of the possibilities of Koi when I was visiting two friends who each had a private Koi pond at their properties on the New South Wales South Coast,” he says. “My first visual experiments with the fish, the water surface, the ripples and the shadows were so intriguing that I decided to explore the subject as a longer-running project. Some of the results of several months of shooting, through rain, sunshine and fog, you can see here. I think this particular project has pretty much run its course now, but if one day the fish, the water and the light combine in a certain way, out will come the camera.”
